MJQ has long been one of my favorite places to dance the night away. Sure, it's dingy, dark, and usually pretty smokey, BUT it's also underground which helps explain all the reviews calling it dark/dingy. The djs are always on point. Main room too much or wrong vibe for you? Try the side room!
Bar is cash only, but they do have ATMs...sometimes there is a cash cover at the door. I'd recommend Friday's and Wednesday's.
Sure is dingy and dark, but the bands here sure know how to put on a good show. It's REALLY small. Like, you'll end up with more sweat from other people on you than your own sweat. Cheap beer too!
MJQ is hands down my favorite spot to dance in Atlanta. It is every bit as dingy as one might expect a subterranean nightclub to be, but if you can look past that, you'll be rewarded with inexpensive drinks, great live music and an eclectic crowd that's not afraid to get down. Wednesday nights there is no cover charge for girls.
If you love hip-hop music, then MJQ on a Friday night is your best bet in the city. The DJs take you on a trip spanning the last thirty years of this music genre. The crowd is made of fans of all ages ready to experience the music of their past and catch up to the music of today. By no means is this a boring trip. They play the best of the music of the past couple of decades that make your body move. There's never a dull moment. Once you're on the dance floor, you're stuck. Unlike some of the other spots in the city that play hip-hop music, this is less of a place to be seen and more of the kind of place where you're meant to sweat. Sneakers and jeans are accepted. If you want to dance, MJQ is the place for you.
MJQ, a dingy underground club is located on Ponce de Leon Ave. It's also known for their cheap drinks and good selection of music, whether it's hip hop or indie. The crowd is a mix of hipsters and indie young'ns eager to experience the nightlife in Atlanta minus the frat house boys.
