Here's a spot that will please music and film lovers alike-- Wicker Park's popular dive bar Rainbo Club was the setting of the final scene in the 2000 film HIGH FIDELITY. Championship Vinyl, the fictional record store owned by John Cusack's character in the film is located a few blocks away from Rainbo Club and remained boarded up for several years, while this neighborhood favorite has been serving beer to locals for decades. A very unassuming venue with bartenders who look like they've been pouring drinks there since the place opened. A great place to mingle with city natives and relax with your hipster pals.
A classic spot located on the border of Wicker Park and Ukrainian Village, Rainbo Club lets no outside light into its dim confines. The boarded-up look came in handy during Prohibition, helping to keep outsiders unaware of the speakeasy goings-on inside. Nelson Algren, Vince Vaughn, Liz Phair, and Jack White have all hung out here.
