Rated the best Chinese food place in Chicago, but I'm not sure if it lives up to the claim. The chicken and mixed veggies was good, and the portions were generous, but flavor-wise, no tastier than a local takeout place. The staff was friendly and service was prompt.

I truly find this place delicious and I wouldn't mind to come here again. Maybe it's the crowd that makes me believe this place is something special, or the entrance door covered with Yelp, Gogobot, Chicago reviews, newspaper etc. stickers to make sure everybody knows this place has been reviewed on every platform and has been rated excellent.

I would say this is a restaurant you should dine in when you visit Chicago's Chinatown. It says Szechuan but I don't think every single dish is spicy.

The menu is huge and it will be difficult for you to pick a dish unless you go with the usual Panda Express' Orange Chicken lol.

The dishes we ordered were great. The service was very friendly at all time. I only wish all of them speak English.

A reliable stand-out in Chicago's Chinatown, this Szechuan restaurants makes their dishes authentically spicy. It's one of the best places to go if you can't speak or read Chinese, as they're used to out-of-towners and foodies from other 'hoods.

On a cold Chicago winter night, we warmed our bellies with spicy Sichuan food served family-style. I thought the red peppers were a bit overboard at times but everything was prepared so well I didn't mind. Try the soul fish!

Awards continue to rack up for Lao Sze Chuan, one of the first area Chinese restaurants to earn three forks from the Chicago Tribune, and a designated “Bib Gourmand” in the 2012 and 2013 Michelin Guide. Owner Tony Hu, dubbed the Mayor of Chinatown, has seven Chinese restaurants, with four more slated to open by the end of this year. Yet people continue to wait in line for a table at this Sichuan spot, known for its extraordinary spiciness and fearless dishes like sour pickle and pork stomach soup and Peking-style duck tongue (milder options are also available).

Great spot for Sichuan food! This is the first of Tony Hu's expanding empire of Chinese regional cuisine and his most famous. Go for the dry chili chicken, lamb with cumin, and ma po tofu. Another option on cold days when you are in need of clearing your sinuses is the deluxe hot pot - where you cook your choice of meat and veggies in a boiling pot of spicy, red broth.
