Located in walking distance to tram stations (such as that of Sirkeci and Gulhane) and to the marmaray station, Hotel Sultania is a well tucked yet a discreet establishment in the old city of Istanbul, which one cannot miss! Being a boutique style hotel themed in the Ottoman style, there are various types of rooms in Sultania from Deluxe to Family and Harem Suites to make the travelers feel like home. Complemented with excellent customer service by the hotel staff, Sultania offers the flexibility of providing a specialized Turkish style food menu, Jacuzzi style bath and complimentary Turkish lokum awaiting its guests. Additionally, there are discounted online promotional offers (such as the honeymoon, city break package), guided city tours and airport transfers (for a minimum charge) and lots of lovely local restaurants and cats to see in the neighbourhood; providing all the many reasons to choose Sultania on your visit to Istanbul!
A hotel with an interesting concept/theme: the rooms are named after particularly noteworthy and powerful wives of various Sultans. As a result the rooms are nicely decorated in an interesting historical Ottoman style, with heavy wood paneling and oil portraits of the "Empresses" in each room, and manages to successfully avoid the trap of looking corny or overwhelming. An interesting little detail that sets this hotel apart from others is the "cezriye", a traditional Turkish snack made from carrots and pistachios , that is given in the room along with the standard cookies and tea. It's also located very close to Sirkeci and the main tramway line in Sultanahmet.
Perfect for history buffs, this boutique hotel is full of oriental touches. The standard room was luxurious, with a really comfortable bed and great complementary touches, like chocolates and a cool orange glow. There was a couch and a portrait of a sultaness, and in terms of comfort, it went above and beyond what we were expecting. Another positive memory was the superbly attentive service that we received. The manager Hilmi was really nice; he offered us a free airport shuttle and a discount for paying in cash. Though there isn’t a terrace at the hotel, the other amenities were really nice, including the fitness room and pool. The location of the hotel is another big convenience: really close to Topkapi palace and different types of public transport.
I loved this Boutique hotel. It is exactly what I would describe as oriental with style. You can’t miss that you are in Turkey thanks to its themed rooms. Every room had the portrait and the story of one of the Ottoman Sultanas, and the interior design just helped tell all the story with the little details. They were extra generous with the bathroom amenities. They also managed to put lots of fresh fruits and nuts for me at the lobby so I enjoyed these snacks as I’m sitting and contemplating the place with relaxing music in the background. And my favorite touch was the wellness ball. It was placed right next to a modern salon in the lobby with a cheerful quote on exercising. What a daring move I said!
It is with simple touches like these, that they made me love the energy of this place. Hotel Sultania definitely is worth a visit, especially for art and design lovers!
