El Oso y el Madroño

La estatua del símbolo de Madrid se encuentra en la céntrica Puerta del Sol, al inicio de la Calle Alcalá. Es un lugar muy querido por los locales, ya que suele ser un punto de encuentro a la hora de hacer cualquier plan por la parte del centro.
El Oso y El Madroño lleva estando en el escudo de Madrid desde el siglo XIII y es común encontrarlo en cualquier esquina de la ciudad, incluso en el escudo del equipo de fútbol Atlético de Madrid.
Como curiosidad, en realidad, ¡el oso es una osa!

El símbolo de Madrid que encontrarás en cada rincón de la ciudad, en su escudo, el escudo del Atlético de Madrid, en las alcantarillas, etc... y en esta estatua que encontramos en la Plaza del Sol. Su ubicación actual es al inicio de la Calle Alcalá (lo menciono porque antes estaba en otra parte de la plaza) y es un punto de encuentro habitual entre los locales y no tanto. A ver si logras la foto sin que se te cuele alguien en ella. ;)

Una de las fotos obligadas en la Puerta del Sol, es la del oso y el madroño, el símbolo de la ciudad de Madrid. Antes de conocerla la verdad que pensé que era más grande, pero estando ahí no lo es tanto. Se puede apreciar la figura del árbol por encima de la del oso y el animal en posición de agarrar la fruta. El escudo del Atletico Madrid, uno de los dos clubes importantes de la ciudad, tiene este símbolo.

El monumento conocido como El Oso y El Madroño es un símbolo heráldico de Madrid. En Inglés, se traduce en el Oso y el árbol de madroño. Se encuentra ubicado en la Puerta del Sol, cerca de la landmarked Tio Pepe anuncio.

The statue was made by sculptor Antonio Navarro Santa Fe (1906-1983) and opened in 1967. It was promoted by the Culture section of the City of Madrid, who wanted to represent monumentally main symbols of the city and the nation.
The first appearance of a bear rampant and a fruity strawberry in the shield of the town is situated in the thirteenth century. Earlier, the weapons incorporated only a bear in attitude intern, replaced from said current century by the two figures.
This change was intended to symbolize the resolution adopted by the municipality and the Council of Priests and Beneficiaries, after a long dispute over control of pasture land and trees Madrid. Under the agreement, the first became the property of the council and the council seconds. Hence, the weapons were modified with the inclusion of a strawberry and a new position for the bear, standing on the tree.
The sculpture has always been at the Puerta del Sol, but with two different locations within the square. Until 1986 it was located on the eastern side of it, near the building that rises between Alcalá Street and Race St. Jerome. In that year was moved to the top of the calle del Carmen, in the context of the renovation and remodeling of the plaza driven by Mayor Enrique Tierno Galván. In September 2009, with the renovation of the square promoted by Alberto Ruiz-Gallardón, has returned to its original location.

This symbol weighs 20 ton & is probably the most recognised symbol of Madrid. A bear eating fruit from a strawberry tree, it's located at Puerta del Sol. There are always people stopping by for a photo opportunity, and who could blame them.
