I live in L.A. for such long time, and yet I have not visited this popular Halloween Carnival in my own city. Earlier this year I finally when to the super popular rose parade, did as if it was not as bad as I thought it might be for the parking situation.

Our group came earlier to the carnival around 7pm; parking is not easy but not impossible. Just depend where you looking at, many parking lot is try to making shit load of money in this event, some charge as much as $40.
I was dead wrong thinking that this is like a parade with cars and band, all it is mainly is people walking around with their costumes and about two small stands with music performance. The real reason people come here, is to get to show off their costume. The experience was not that great, mainly because of the weather. It rain for god sake...

This type of event, do not come solo. This is more idea for group, and not for kids. Some costume can be inappropriate, after all is almost free for all. There is a cop present but isn't strong as I thought they should. After all half million people usually show up that night. Majority of people come after 9pm, this is the peak time and is super packed.

If you those people who love in a crowded place and costume, you were love it here. Make sure to bring a good camera or have a friend come with you just to take picture!

This was by far one of the funnest Halloween Experience ever!

I just love all the out of the world costume and filling like a celebrity for the constant stop for photos! its just awesome!

biggest problem was the traffic getting there as well as parking! So make sure you either go early or have a friend that lives close so you can park at their place (which is exactly what we did) Traffic though, was still pretty horrid!

Aside from that, i def want to go back!

So how crazy adventurous and wild are you really? Are you truly daring or do you just give lip service to living the fun life? Do your friends who most consider to be over the top think you are insane? Well if the answer to these is very yes and yes then you MUST get your AZZZ to this street festival sometime.

Pro Tip #1: DO NOT BRING YOUR CHILDREN! It is not really appropriate for lil ones…

This street fair has the best wildest, slutiest, craziest costumes in all of So Cal hands down. You can see it all here, literally! I have seen more than I have wanted to a few times myself. Everything from someone wearing just a lingerie/underwear to the most elaborate group costumes you can imagine. My favorite group was the taliband (a group of folks dressed up in Arab robes with musical instruments and ak47s with a banner declaring themselves the taliband) from a few years ago…

Pro Tip #2: Come in costume, seriously, it is not worth going as just some dork in regular clothes to gawk at the crazy lunatics like myself.

Be aware that sometimes the more elaborate the costume the better, however sometimes it’s the more simple costumes that provides the most enjoyment. For example, someone turned a cardboard box into the facebook like button and wore it over his torso/head and he was literally the most popular guy where he was located. Conversely, I have seen some people dressed up as a group of lumberjacks and no one even noticed them. Makeup does make it a lot of fun but that is not the end all be all for an event like this.

Pro Tip #3: Arrive early to find parking and carpool if possible.

Be aware that there are police everywhere as well. Please police your drinking so that you are not stumbling down drunk and do not try and get into a fight with anyone. You may not like the outcome and that dude wearing plastic armor who you want to thump in the chest, may just be wearing real armor!

Definitely go with friends and act like a crazy man or woman and just enjoy being free open and different. Show how you are unique. Don’t give a dayem what anyone else says. It definitely helps to be open and adventurous =)
