Better Than Expected
Let's get the "negative" stuff out of the way. Some travelers may see things differently, but we have come to be more thankful and less critical over time, so we consider these fairly minor.
1. We had trouble getting the card lock to operate on the room door at first. Then, for some reason, it either started working right, or we figured out what the little nuance was to working it right.
2. The AC was not on, and we couldn't get it to work. Then we discovered that the "breaker" switch on the plug had been turned off. Never seen that done before.
3. The bath tub faucet wouldn't stop dripping. That didn't bother us, but we hated to see the waste to the hotel.
4. The "biggie": no breakfast "due to the virus". Too many places are using that as an excuse for not giving full value to their customers. How hard would it be to have pre-packaged continental breakfasts in paper sacks for each guest individually wrapped cinnamon roll, banana, yogurt), or to give a $5 gift card to a nearby restaurant / cafe?
Now for the much more positives!
1. New front desk clerk, learning very quickly and EXTREMELY respectful and friendly. We know she will be a HUGE asset. The manager training her was himself extremely friendly and helpful, and very patient with his new staff member.
2. Noise level around the property was pleasantly low.
3. Pillows and mattresses were very comfortable.
4. (Once we figured it out) AC cooled very well!
5. Freezer actually froze our water!
6. Clean!
7. Adequate TV channels.
8. Conveniently located.
Bottom line: we would stay here again if we are ever in the area.

The renovated rooms are an excellent value.
We stayed in a Queen Suite, which was more spacious than I expected. It looked like we had a queen bed, a full bed, and a fold-out couch (the queen and full could have been a king and queen). The room was freshly renovated -- as in, they literally finished putting the furniture in the day we checked in. The room was clean and quiet, and the staff was friendly and accommodating.
The only slight downside was that the continental breakfast didn't include a protein option (as of November 2019). Considering the stellar value, however, that's not worth complaining about. They did have a waffle station, which was an excellent touch. Ultimately we were all satisfied by the variety they had to offer.
