Excellent cottage by the lake

We spent some days in Hukka 8, a cottage near the lake with its own pier and rowing boat. It was a wonderful experience, the cottage was very comfortable and it was a very relaxing holiday. We will never forget the peaceful evenings spent on our bench on the pier watching the sun setting on the lake or exploring the lake with our rowing boat. You can also use your sauna and have a swim in the cold water of the lake or roast some sausages.

More than one night stand

We stayed only one night and that was too short. We did not have time to have a bath in smoke sauna or go to the lake on row boat. Personnel was very friendly and in October there were not many quests anymore. Our small hut, Pikku-Hukka, was lovely and convenient. The couch needed updating ad for some reason there were a lot of flies on roof top. The did not bother us but we did not like the idea of having them there. However, we slept very well there.

Abandoned chalet

Maybe this "hotel" is passable for high season or for desperate fishermen, but I would advise nobody to put up at it in October. It is cold in the chalet, tap water is dark brown. There is no linen On the beds , and that was a real shock for us, as there was no explicit info about it on the site! But the most awful of all was that we had to be straying in the gloomy forest in search of the chalet-- with no road signs or lights! Nobody cared to show us the way and to explain things about the "hotel" or rather -- camp. We had to engage ourselves in the torturous process of unlocking the chalet in complete darkness -- in the light of our smartphone. In search of the chalet we had to return to the reception three times -- to no avail, really. It all ended in our cancelation of our reservation/booking and consequent complaint to booking.com. Luckily, we found a vacant room in a Savonlinna hotel.

Thank you for your review. I am sorry that you had that kind of experince in Kuus-Hukkala. We are not a hotel by any standards, we have only cottages by the lake with sauna and private beach area, which you did not see because of the darkness. Also we have small chalets and caravan area in the main area, near to our restaurant. The cottage that you rented is little remote, and i am sorry that you could not found it, but i was also informed that you were personally guided to the cottage after you came back to reception ask better instructions. Also you complained about the linens and they were offered to you whitout costs. However, i am really sorry about this and i hope you will find out that Finland can be beautiful also in dark times. Kind regards, Pia Hindell from Kuus-Hukkala reception

3 nights is a small hukka cottage - 2 persons

The cottage is small but really nice with everything needed. Unfortunately, the bathroom was smelly and ants were starting to settle in. Watch out for the reception's opening hours. It said opening at 9:00 (nothing indicating otherwise) but we were stuck for 40 minutes trying to call the numbers (the main "emergency" one never answered), until one finally answered and came to get the keys. We also noticed that the descriptions in different languages do not match, and may not be all correct (e.g. no WiFi in the rooms). We cannot say too much about the rest of the place, we were out and about most of the time. All in all, a nice place, but we were disappointed with the service.

We visited the familiar caravans

It takes one hour by car from Mikkeli to Kuus-Hukkala. We decided to visit our friends at Kuus-Hukkala, who have warmly recommended the place. The area is within a reasonable distance from Highway 14. The end of the trip is a wide sandy road to lake Kolkonjärvi beach.
There is space for caravans in the area and there are also quality cottages on the shore. For example, the cottages have a sauna. For meetings and evening entertainment there are conference rooms, a sauna world and a small heated swimming pool. There is also a barbecue area and a hut in the area. Hygiene supplies and small groceries can be purchased from the mini market.
For children there was a swing, sandbox, playhouse, trampoline and three pedal cars. As a new entertainment to the previous launch had become frisbeegolf.
For men and women, they had their own turn of the sauna. We did not go to sauna this time, but the saunas were cool and functional.
We had previously eaten lunch at Kuus-Hukkala on Mother's Day and it was delicious. This time we ate pizzas.
Alternatives to pizza filling were, for example, salmon and smoked vendace. The pizzas were delicious. The base was thin and crunchy. Tomato tasted delightfully freshly under the fillings. Pizzas cost a little under and a little over 10 euros depending on the fillings.
