Comfortable and pleasant place to stay

Having spent the previous evening at the connected and adjoining Black Bull we spent the night here. Italian Restaurant and pub are handy. Room neat and tidy in a town that is the gateway to the cheviot hills
On site car park and right in the centre of town.

Cosy and peaceful get away

We stayed in the hideaway apartment which was beautiful, spacious yet really cosy and fully equipped. The bed was comfy and we slept beautifully. The location is close by to a number of pubs and local shops. There is a great kebab house and a great cafe over the road which we would recommend. Stephanie was extremely attentive and provided great communication throughout our stay.

Rather stay in castle ruins!

This accommodation is located in a very noisy setting. It backs directly into the carpark and bus station. At one side is a pub. At another side is the alleyway leading between the high street beside the pub and to the Milan restaurant that is also owned by the people that run this accommodation.
Plus if you stay on the ground floor... Noise from above!
Very disturbed afternoon / night.
There's no buffer from any of the noise that all that creates and it is almost amplified into the rooms.
Glass bottles and bins being emptied before 8am in the morning during the start too.
The Duchess is very dark and gloomy as it's got dark brown furniture.
It's only got two small velux windows in the bedroom area and one of those was broken and the blind couldn't be opened during our stay!
No toilet seat.
They accept dogs but don't provide anything at all for them.
Travel size kettle.
Tiny fridge in room with ineffective ice box.
Dust on lamps.
Inconsistent check out times noted in the room compared to booking sites.
Uncomfortable rock hard sofa bed.
TV high up on wall and it didn't even work.
Room very hot when heating on but soon goes very cold once it's gone off. No comfortable middle ground.
Shower room was 'ok' but mould visible under the wall panels.
Wasn't happy with some of the comments made by the owner during our stay either. Dismissive and argumentative.
Car park free but not directly outside and it isn't lit up at night and isn't paved evenly, so be careful.
I wouldn't stay here again and wouldn't recommend to anyone I know.

Chilled weekend

Stayed here for a long weekend in the middle of January , lovely clean accommodation and central to everything , was a self catering apartment but was well equipped with everything that you require if you wanted to stay in and eat but we opted for eating out

Very good

Great rooms and very comfortable. Private paking at the rear of property and well positioned for town centre.
The only downside was the room overlooked the 'Milan restuarant' outside smoking area - so was quite noisy, even on a midweek night.
