Cozy newly renovated dog-friendly hotel directly by the lake

Picturesque surroundings, a bit outside Gränna, in the small town of Örserum next to Lake Ören.
It's worth driving a bit off the main roads to stay in this little oasis for a night or two.
The public spaces are partially renovated and stylishly furnished with old and new. You get a kind of home feeling from ancient times.
The rooms are spacious, bright and have a fridge. The furniture is a mix of past and present. TV is missing, but not really needed either. Sleep quality is good.
Everything in this personally run establishment isn't perfect, but it's worth overlooking little things that could be better.
Restaurant with limited, but very well prepared good food. Worth booking a table. The dog is welcome in the indoor restaurant, both at the excellent dinner and during the excellent breakfast.
If you book the room, or rooms via the website, you can easily include the dog supplement in the advance payment.
The hotel has nice outdoor seating, small oases to read a book or just hang out with a drink. The complex has its own small, picturesque swimming area surrounded by grass and with a sauna by the water.
Good opportunities in the surroundings for pleasant and varied dog walks.
A little bathroom tip. Turn the left shower tap gently towards you to avoid a cold shower as a start in the morning.
In this assessment, I have left aside certain renovation flaws, which will surely be fixed over time when the business bears financial fruit. For example, a shower strip solution I last saw in Poland in the early nineties, old bathroom floors that need a surface polish and traces of scraped away dark textiles under the beds, which will surely be fixed at the next operating break.

A normal hotel, with a normal price

The hotel is comfortable and clean (they have to check some details of the bathroom: you can see mold in the joints, the second roll of toilet paper touches the floor and the shower has a curtain, which is never ideal in a hotel). The room is very spacious, the bed is comfortable and the decoration is beautiful (it is not oppressive as it seems from the photos)

Nice spot close to Gränna

Stayed one night with two friends on our way down to Gothenburg. Host was very friendly, the food was splendid and we lived in the seaside attic room. The rooms were a bit hot (no way to get a draft there) but everything was new and shiny. Really liked it

Food for the soul

Having traveled all over the world and seen all there is of a truly original experience from NYC to Tokyo, i can tell you that leaving this place left me feeling more in touch with Mother Earth and what is important in life.
I was invited to join a small gathering to try out their recently revived menu, and giving my thoughts.
I will only shortly touch on the food, as it is in my view secondary to the over all experience. In their effort to build a menu around sustainability and health, their team presented a 8 section service. Each course as delicious and beautiful as the next. It had a very natural flow from course to course.
All the ingredients was from no more then a few kilometers away, every single detail ingeniously considered to minimize our carbon footprint and off course to delight in our senses.
Sitting there in the middle of nature, and letting all the senses be exposed was more then just a culinary experience. I think everyone should at least give this a try as it shows a whole new way of engaging with the food industry. And that it is possible to be kind to earth and still eat great food!
I will soon revisit this tiny gem, to find my peaceful spot.

All good except the service in restaurant

This hotel and restaurant would get much higher score if it wasn’t for the awkward service in the restaurant. We stayed in the hotel for 2 nights and we had dinner both nights.
A first sign of strange attitude was that it became obvious that it ”should seem difficult” to get a table when we had no reservation, and this despite that for the second night, less than half of the tables were occupied. We arrived at 20:00 and the kitchen should close at 21:00. We were the second last to arrive that night so there were at least 10-15 free tables, not reserved by anyone.
Food and drinks were served within a reasonable time, food was tasty and well prepared BUT after this we had no luck no more, the personnel seemed to decide that they had done their part already, not showing up no more.
At the end we were only 2 or 3 tables and there were at least 3 in the personnel walking around doing there stuff, but not once did they pay any attention to us.
After 20 minutes we had enough and decided to walk up to the bar and pay the check, without having had the chance to order any dessert or coffee that normally would have been our choice if we would have had the privilege of getting just a little bit of attention from someone.
A perfect introduction for a book called ”How to Waste your Business, Destroying Customer’s Perception by Ignoring Them!”
A pity!
