A Hotel without Peer

This fabulous hotel wins you over immediately you step into it. This is not a hotel in the traditional sense - but a row of canal town houses artfully and tastefully put together. Wonderful gardens to sit and dine in and passages and nooks and crannies adorned with a variety of paintings. The accommodation is all 5 stars in what it provides. Dining is absolutely top notch too - in what is on offer and the cuisine itself.. To cap it all off, there is the truly delightful, helpful and friendly staff - each of them, in whatever area of the hotel, a winner! Do yourself a favour and stay at this truly unique and special place.

A Bit of a Letdown.

My review is based on the money that was spent per night, e.g., 800+ Euros. When we checked in, the systems were down so could not get into our room and were told it would be 15 minutes or so. It ended up being 2-3 hours. The real issue was the lack of communication. Alot of people were in the same boat and had the same issue. Also, the room was not totally clean we had to wipe the counters and the bathroom floor. Not what I would expect for such a high end hotel. Also, we left our room and had forgotten something and when we came back, the maid had a sign out and was doing some cleaning. We walked in to get what we left and they said "didn't you see the sign"?
I do think it's a good place overall, but for the money we were paying, I expect perfection.

Disappointing Experience at a Supposedly 5-Star Hotel

Our stay at the Pulitzer was unfortunately far from what we expected. While the woman who checked us in was warm and professional, and the staff who assisted with our luggage were kind and helpful, the rest of the service was surprisingly cold and unwelcoming.
Throughout our stay, the majority of the staff came across as disinterested and unaccommodating — not what you would anticipate at a property that positions itself as luxury. Requests felt like inconveniences, and we were left with the impression that guest experience simply wasn’t a priority.
It’s a beautiful property, but hospitality is more than aesthetics. Sadly, we won’t be returning.

Pretty disappointed

We really wanted to love this hotel but a few things just was not up to our expectations. Just for reference we booked a classic suite for 4 nights.
Pros:
the lobby was beautiful along with the courtyard. Checking into the hotel we were very excited to see the room because the hotel seemed truly like a five star hotel. The hotel is a combination of multiple buildings brought together around the courtyard and is very unique in that sense. A lot of green space.
The food at the breakfast buffet which we ate every morning was included was good to great. They even made iced lattes for us which were not on the menu.
Bathroom was spacious and clean.
King bed was big and very comfortable allowing a good nights rest.
Lastly, hospitality was okay but it seems like everyone is tired and overworked. I don’t know maybe it’s a Dutch thing.
Cons:
What brought down the rating for us so much and also unforgivable for a five star hotel was the cleanliness. Booking the classic suite we expected a higher quality. The carpets were stained and dusty. Crumbs and other specs were scattered around the room. It looks like it hasn’t been vacuumed in ages. Felt that way too. The things of regular use were clean such as bedding, sinks, bathtub shower etc. however the room was INCREDIBLY DUSTY. All the fixtures, tables, curtains, even the couch. My wife has allergies and could not stand the room and was coughing and sneezing the entire stay. The couch had a layer of dust bunnies and just not something that is acceptable.
For a suite we had no coffee table to eat at so we had to eat on the vanity alone or on the bed. Therefore my son spilled food on the bed and it took them too long to change the duvet and he fell asleep. Ended up sleeping on stains that night.
Again the furniture and chairs were old a very dusty.
If they had only cleaned the place it would have been a nice stay.

If you have money to spend

Location is great but be prepared to pay. Rooms nothing special for the price. Noisy at night. Although part of the charm, room not easy to get to, especially. Small complaint but very frustrating the toilet paper kept falling off the holder.
