Roc arenas doradas Veradero
It’s the best hotel I have been here five times and the room is very clean staffs are very friendly. Very welcoming environment. It’s also kids friendly and the entertainment teams are the best around the pool. The food is also great and they have variety choices for everyone. I highly recommend this hotel for great experience.

False Advertising
Upon arrival we were greeted by the receptionist, Arlene, who was absolutely lovely. She was patient and kind and explained everything to us. We arrived in the evening so there wasn’t much happening in the lobby. The bar was open, but no one was there. We were taken to our room by a motorized cart and upon inspection, the room was beautiful. A heat pump to keep us comfortable and cool in the evenings, a television, two beds, bottled water and lovely fluffy towels for after our showers. They did not provide face cloths, which we had anticipated as this was not our first trip to Cuba. The shower didn’t have a door, and there was always a lot of water on the tiled floor and I slipped and fell quite a few times.
The resort itself is quite large and in the evening it is difficult to navigate due to lack of upkeep of the signs, and because the lighting is very poor. A lot of faded signage throughout the resort, and not always in English.
Our first day started off great, the two ladies who run the coffee stand were our favourites. They were very kind and took the time to explain everything to us. The coffee was DELICIOUS.
The buffets left a lot to be desired, however we understand that there are food shortages. The selection of food (when available) was fresh and delicious. We travelled in the “off season”, so there wasn’t a lot of variety due to lack of guests. However, when the guests increased, the food did not. There were lots of times when day tours showed up, ate and drank, and the guests who were staying at the resort for the week were left with little to nothing.
We didn’t get to eat at any of the a la carte restaurants as every time we tried to book they were full. Even if we arrived at 10am, there were no spots for us.
The majority of the staff we encountered at Arenas Doradas were not friendly. They seemed too busy to bother with us, especially at any bar we approached (with the exception of the beach bar). They were always on their phones and seemed annoyed to be pulled away from whatever they were doing. I’m not sure if it was because we are a same sex couple, but we were certainly not made to feel included in the “family feel” that is advertised.
Most of the time the pool and beach bars were out of beer, and not much concern was made of this considering it’s an all inclusive resort. We were only given two bottles of water per day and if we required more, we had to buy it from the store on resort (5USD). Neither of us are drinkers so we found this incredibly frustrating.
During our 7 day stay, we lost power twice. Once for 6-7 hours during the night, and another time for 2 hours during the day.
The snack bar was okay, but often didn’t have much to offer. A lot of times they ran out of bread, so there was nothing at all to eat as they served mostly sandwiches. One time when we were there they had plantain chips. Once again, the staff at the snack bar seemed to be annoyed to be asked for food. The cooks there specifically seemed to be reluctant to be torn away to make anything.
One night I was very sick and we called the front desk at 4am to get some water, and the person who answered the phone was so rude, said that housekeeping will give us water in the morning and if we needed it now we had to go to the lobby and get it filled by the “filtered” gun at the bar.
There was an invitation to a special Canadian dinner 3 days into our trip and that was the nicest part of the resort. Yuya made us feel so valued and welcomed, and if it weren’t for her, Arlene, the coffee ladies and the ground keeping staff we would have left.
The beaches of Varadaro are so beautiful and this is why we frequently travel to Cuba. We also enjoy the locals and the opportunity to socialize and while we will most certainly be back to Cuba, we will NEVER go back to this resort. It is advertised as a 4 star, but I think it is a 2 at best.

We would like to start bye thanking You for the time You have Taken to write this comment. It is a real shame that You have not decided to contact our Customers Service staff. They are all the time available to assist our calientes and to give an answer por solution along with the proper follow up until the end stay. We don't know what could happens that Made You think this way about staff as usually we receive positive feedbacks. We have bellboy Service 24 hours so it was not necessary to navigate all the resort bye yourself. We understand that You should be tired but it was better to wait few minutes instead. In our country discrimation is not a practice. Clients usually receive a bottle of water per day. Upon request clients get more. On the other hand the water in Varadero is chemically treated by a Spa ish company. Ir is completely safe to drinknfrom the tap. We have already analyzed the incident You related. Cuba Arena Doradas 2025
Great experience overall, however does need more nighttime activities. More music, more dancing. More activities for kids. Canadian dinner was great. Elisabeth was excellent at cleaning and providing supplies for the room.

Best Time in Varadero
Great experience. Delicious food and great attention to detail. The staff was the best and they kept checking up on us to see if we were having the best experience. 1000/10

Incredible vacation
The hotel made a very good impression on me the staff was well prepared and very polite above all very clean with very well kept gardens and room with an incredible view of de boulevard it was very picturesque.the food was average.its CubanThe entertainment should be more varied.
