Great stay, didn’t want to leave!
Our room was a spacious twin, we emailed the hotel to request a twin the week before and it was no bother. The food was good but got a bit boring after 4-5 days so we ate out at Soho square which is a 5 min walk right out of the hotel. It’s a lovely shopping area with bars and restaurants, chilled and clean. Naama bay was well worth a visit for dinner too, and taxis are cheap. The hotel booked us one and it was just under £10 each way but you can get it a lot cheaper if you book yourself. Lots to do there if you want bars and restaurants and more life.
Evening entertainment was as you might expect, largely aimed at children and cheesy and fun, we liked it. Wine is not included in all inclusive except at lunch and dinner so be aware of this!
Big shout out to Ibrahim the bar captain at the cosy bar. Really lovely guy and looked after us. Ahmed on the waves pool bar was also lovely and always made us laugh.

Boring hotel
I can honestly say it was the most boring time with regards to entertainment.
There was zero entertainment in the day, the music will put you to sleep as it's on a USB stick on repeat.
The evening entertainment was basically DJ micky on the decks playing baby shark and if we was lucky enough to get entertainment for the adults it was over in a hour.
The bar closed at 10.30pm unless you went to sports bar where it closed at 11pm then after had to purchase own drinks.
The staff were absolutely amazing and went above and beyond to help.
Unfortunately, I had been bitten so badly from mosquito bites that I had to have intravenous antibiotics, the doctor on sight was fantastic and very caring.
It maybe a coincidence, but after being bitten so badly, the hotel was fumigated and chairs moved from the grassy areas.
We came here, because we had been the previous year which was fantastic and fun, but they've seriously cut the budget on the entertainment.
The beach is nonexistent, and if you want a bed on the beach, be prepared to get there for 7.30am and then wait for the bar to open at 11 even if it's just for a coffee!
Food was lovely and reps were so caring and funny.
Unfortunately I Would never ever go back.

You get what you pay for, overall we were happy with our experience
Transfer time
The hotel is only 20 mins transfer from the airport which is great.
Check in
I had twice emailed the hotel before leaving the UK to request a room on the beach side of the hotel which is where I stayed 15 years ago. I mentioned this at check in and the staff knew nothing about it, said we had been allocated mountain side, and suggested we go to reception the next day.
We arrived late at night and were offered food which was a nice touch, but instead we headed for the bar for a drink overlooking the pool. Before this though, we were taken to our room by golf cart along with our luggage, which was a nice touch.
Room
Our room was a deluxe family room - in reality I think it was probably identical to the other rooms except we had a hairdryer, kettle facilities and iron and ironing board which were not itemised as room facilities on the website.
There was also a fridge with two bottles of water each day (although there were three of us which was odd) and we just refilled the bottles when needed in the restaurant.
We only had two large towels for three of us, maybe just an oversight. To be honest, it was so hot we were drying super quickly and therefore with the two big towels and smaller hair towels we managed fine and didn't bother requesting more.
Our room was ground floor and had patio door access straight out to the pool area which was great in the morning for enjoying a coffee overlooking the pool. The room was large and pretty clean - the rooms could do with a refresh but it was perfectly fine. The bathroom had a bath and shower and shampoo, conditioner and shower gel provided.
The aircon was great and I think is triggered by movement. It seemed that when you lowered the temperature on the controls it did cool the room, but if no movement was detected after a period (e.g. when asleep) it reverted to the pre-set temperature. We found this worked well for us.
The electrical socket in our bathroom didn't work but luckily our electric toothbrushes lasted for the week...just about! Again, we could have complained but didn't as thought we'd be ok.
Hotel Facilities
Mountain side
We felt that the hotel was lovely. The communal areas were attractive and clean, and the outside areas, gardens and pools were extremely well cared for. There were always staff cutting lawns, pruning bushes and sweeping the pool sides.
The pools on mountain side are HUGE! However, only the middle family pool is heated and it's still pretty cold. We got used to it though. There is a selection of slides for the kids, along with two separate slides which were not working and I understand haven't been for quite some time. I suspect that it would require additional staff to supervise them.
There were plenty of sunbeds and non needed reserving before breakfast. We could even find adequate sunbeds at 11am if needed.
There were courts which I think were tennis and paddle, they looked in good condition, but we didn't use them.
There was a small gym which was functional and adequate.
Beach side
This side of the hotel has just been refurbished and we only saw communal areas which were fabulous. The pools were lovely and again there were plenty of sunbeds. We generally headed to the beach side for the afternoon and it worked well for us.
Bars/Drinks
This is a tricky category. For what we paid for a week all inclusive, I didn't have any major problem with the drinks. Wine was only available in the restaurant at meal times and was served in thimbles! No wine was available outside meal times unless you paid for it which was a bit annoying but again, it was a good value holiday. The spirits were, in my opinion, fine. I drank gin and tonics, vodka and pineapple and an occasional whiskey sour. Clearly they were not branded spirits but neither were they paint stripper as some reviews suggested.
The biggest annoyance for me was that it was very hit and miss what 'glass' you got. Most of the time drinks were served in really flimsy plastic cups - so flimsy that you wouldn't give them to children at a kids party as they just collapsed when you picked them up. This was not only at the pool during the day, but even in the bars in the evenings. Sometimes we did get solid plastic 'glasses' but this appeared to correlate with the days we tipped staff....
Food
Food is always very personal - I had no issue with the food.
Breakfast was fine - an omelette and egg station, pancakes and waffle station, cereals, breads, meat and cheese, the usual beef/chicken sausages and beans etc.
Lunch and dinner were similar - No chicken nuggets and burgers, but lots of lovely cold salads, breads, meat and cheese, humous etc. In addition there was always a couple of hot options like flavoured rice, curry, casseroles and often grilled meat/shrimps, fries and sautéed vegetables plus a pasta station. A couple of evening there was a chef outside doing BBQ meat.
The dining experience was much better on the beach side of the hotel - it was calmer, the food seemed better presented, less queuing, and politer residents from what I saw. There were always tables available. The mountainside could be a bit school canteenish...
We ended up eating beach side for lunch and also a couple of times for dinner.
Cala restaurant on the beach was lovely! It isn't included in the all inclusive package, but we went for lunch one day and the service and food was excellent.
Staff
Hit and miss!
Reception staff were overworked from what I could see. We would be called forward to be served and then half way through a sentence the staff would answer the phone and start chatting, or walk away to speak to another staff member. It took a long time to check out because of this. Quite frustrating.
We went to reception 3 times to ask about our request to be on the beach side, we were shot down each time being told it's full come back tomorrow. We knew it wasn't full as there were still rooms available through the Hilton website plus friends had moved over the day after we arrived which was frustrating. We said that we'd be happy to pay for an upgrade if available. We wondered if it would reflect badly on the mountain side team if they moved people and so made up excuses, who knows.
Cleaning staff were lovely, very friendly and smiley and we tipped a couple of times.
Bar staff were hit and miss both sides of the hotel, there were 3 or 4 who were lovely and served us with a smile, we tipped them appropriately (and got decent glasses!). Others came across as rude, didn't stop to look at us as they took our orders, slammed drinks down at us, served other people before finishing our order etc. I think there are lots of cultures staying at the hotel that aren't as polite as British people and therefore the bar staff reflect that maybe.
The manager (I think - older gent) at the Q bar was great, he was so friendly when we arrived late in the evening, we did tip him and received a great service all week.
Restaurant staff - we found all the waiting on staff to be very pleasant, and tipping regularly, makes such a huge difference to the service received. If you tip your regular waiters they will table serve your drinks (rather than you having to queue) and will make sure there are tables ready for you.
On our last evening our regular waiter at beach side asked if we were going there for dinner. We said that we were, and when we got there a flower arrangement had been done on our table for us which was such a lovely gesture.
Beach
The beach is great. A hop on hop off bus goes around the resort continually and so it's very easy to get down to the beach even from the furthest point of the hotel.
There is a good floating jetty and you can snorkel or scuba off the jetty. There is a dive school on site and snorkels can be rented from the beach. You can't wade into the sea to swim because of the coral, but you can swim off the jetty easily.
There is a little beach bar which one level which is nice and the staff are friendly there.
The beach, however, is small and is built on ledges and I believe getting sunbeds can be difficult in the mornings. If you go down later in the afternoon, however, there are plenty.
General Vibe
Egypt is visited by lots of nationalities and you have to get used to the difference in cultures. Having visited Sharm 4 times, I am used to the slightly aggressive nature of some nationalities, pushing in, shouting and finger wagging at staff although it was not as bad this year as I have previously experienced - perhaps something to do with the war in Ukraine...certain cultures seemed quieter than usual.
There were only two or three British families that we came across which is absolutely not a problem for us, however, in addition there were hardly any children over 5 or 6 years old and so my 12 year old son was not able to make any friends.
Things to do locally
The hotel is a 5/6 minute walk from Soho Square which has completely changed since I was at the hotel. It is now a bustling modern shopping area with malls, restaurants, bars, skating, bowling and even and ice bar (basically a freezer shipping container but fun never the less!). There is Lebanese, Teppanyaki, Chinese, Italian, Steak House, British pub food etc. The whole place is lit up with coloured lights and there is a fountain with music and a light show. It's a lovely place to get out of the hotel.
Overall
I thought overall the holiday experience was good value for money. We used On The Beach and were happy with the price and the holiday.
The food could be better, wine should be available at the bars on all inclusive, and drinks should ALL be served in solid plastic.
It would have been better if all bar staff were polite and friendly, but these are minor things.
The hotel is very big and just being able to move from one side to the other part way through the day broke the time up and it didn't feel like you were trapped in the hotel as it often can with all inclusive.
We would return if we could definitely stay on the beach side which was quieter and more relaxed. We can't do anything about lack of children for our son to make friends with so will just keep an eye on the reviews etc.

Not a Hilton Experience – Disappointing
We recently stayed at the DoubleTree by Hilton in Sharm El Sheikh and were thoroughly disappointed. This hotel falls far below what you would expect from a Hilton-branded property.
The food was a major letdown. Although we were on an all-inclusive package, meals were barely edible. Even a birthday cake sent to our room — which was a nice gesture — was off and tasted terrible. Breakfast was no better, with omelets either burned or completely undercooked, and juices that were just sugar water. Shockingly, we were asked to pay extra for Coca-Cola from a bottle, even though we were all-inclusive.
The snacks at the beach bar in the afternoon (around 15:30) were very low quality and felt more like leftovers than anything prepared for guests. There were no towels available at the beach in the mornings, which made starting the day frustrating.
Our room was outdated and in serious need of renovation. We stayed on the mountain side, which was constantly noisy due to building works. The difference in standard between the mountain and beach side rooms is massive — it felt like two different hotels.
Beach access is poorly managed. Long waits for infrequent shuttle buses make getting to the beach inconvenient. Once there, the area is rundown, with broken sun loungers, full rubbish bins, and broken stairs leading to the beach deck. The swimming area is tiny, especially for a hotel with 600+ rooms, and divers are using the same area, making it feel unsafe and chaotic.
Staff service was inconsistent. The Housekeeping team was good and always polite. However, the Food & Beverage staff were often rude, unhelpful, and many struggled to communicate in English, making basic requests difficult.
The location itself is lovely, and that’s really the only highlight. Beautiful sea views and warm weather — but sadly, everything else was a letdown.
Overall, this felt more like a low-end 3-star family resort, not what you’d expect from DoubleTree or Hilton. We will be leaving with disappointing
