Running Brighton 10k

I had read the reviews after I booked and really wanted to move hotels but it was too late. However, I really cannot fault the hotel. Don't get me wrong, its a little old a tatty but it is an old building.
Check in was easy with the key safe and any issues the lady on reception was there if we had any issues.
I can't obviously say for any of the other rooms or rest of the hotel as we as on the first floor, but it really wasn't as bad as some of the reviews I had read.

Try other hotels first!

Very difficult to use the online ‘Checkin’ service as the app does not allow you to correct any errors you may have made. It invites you to reply to the email if you are experiencing difficulties, but the reply address is not valid. Very frustrating !

Impossible to contact and rude

Impossible to contact and horrible customer service. Never an answer on the phone (tried multiple times for days), emails were ignored until a strongly worded one with the subject "urgent" was sent and when we did finally get a reply it was not helpful and rude. We didn't even make it to the hotel and paid to go somewhere else.

Scamming & dirty

I booked last minute after an extremely stressful morning to stay in the ‘studio apartment’ however, the room we were given was far from what we had paid for or what was advertised. To start it was extremely small and had barely any of the facilities that were listed I.e. kitchenette, microwave, toaster, wardrobe, fireplace etc. It was dirty, with marks on the bed sheets, hairs found on the inside. Hairs all over the bathroom and thick dust in areas that are easily visible and accessible. Overall the room was polar opposite of what we paid money for. Due to this we went to reception to request a refund as if you can’t clean one room right then we sure as hell weren’t going into any others. The woman on the desk who gave us a fake name claimed there isn’t a manager to complain to as there apparently is no manager for that hotel??? She stated she was employed through a different company and couldn’t give us any useful information. I want my money back for this stay!!

Try and find somewhere else

O Dear. Desperation and location made us book this hotel. Should have paid a bit more and gone somewhere else. We are in our 60/70’s and put on 5th floor (no lift). Window probably last fixed and decorated in 1930’s. Everything horrible except for sheets which were crisp and clean. Reception mainly closed so not really a hotel … more like a self service b and b. Location great though.
