Good location close to city
Good location to be close to city centre and visit a friend. Given a key and able to come & go as pleased. Parked free on road.
Nice large bed (bit too soft for my back though) and lovely en-suite shower room. Excellent choice of breakfast both cereals & cooked.

Shabby but NOT chic.
We arrived in the early evening and rang the doorbell and we were greeted by loud barking and once we entered the house the owner tried to control the dogs with some difficulty. There was a strong and not too pleasant doggie smell. We were told “they don’t bite” but on past experience as a general practitioner, I have little faith in that statement and the dogs were boisterous jumping up at us on more than one occasion. The bedroom was adequate but in need of redecoration and the chandelier looked as if it had not been cleaned for several years. There was a cobweb on the ceiling in the corner of the room and dust on the skirting board in bathroom. The toilet brush was rather tired and not exactly clean. On a positive side the breakfast was good with plenty of fresh fruit and cereal and a good choice of a cooked breakfast. There was tea and coffee in the room and biscuits. Parking was not offered off road and we had to park adjacent to a dropped kerb, blocking a parked car that we were assured was the owner’s nephew which he was not using regularly but no attempt was made to offer a temporary resident's car parking permit. I had to ask three times for an extra towel as the original one was not adequately large. The shower was either scalding or freezing cold with little in between. However, there were several shower gels and shampoos to choose. The bathroom/toilet was not en-suite and necessitated a traverse along a corridor that was not well illuminated at night.
This residence is in urgent need for a makeover. I have been to three B&B’s in Salisbury which are better value and spotlessly clean and finally the price at The Old Vicarage did not justify the experience.

Friendly B&B
A warm welcome from Ruwani. We had a lovely room with plenty of amenities. The breakfasts were amazing and nothing was too much trouble. A pretty garden at the back which was very private. A good location for the cathedral. All in all a very good stay.

Would not recommended to family and friends.
We booked this b&b in Salisbury on recommendations via the website and the photographs of the b&b were lovely.
It was within easy walking distance to the Cathedral and offered parking space.
Our first impressions of the b&b we were very disappointed. It has certainly lost its curb appeal.
The interior of the house is in need of a good clean and redecorate.
The bedroom we had was the one with a garden view. It had a private bathroom, however, this was down a corridor next to the other guest room. Not ideal for people who need the bathroom many times during the night. There were also very noisy water pipes and it didn't go quiet until after midnight.
Everywhere seemed superficially clean, and when I stripped the bed on the last morning I discovered very stained pillow protectors and duvet.
The breakfast was lovely and the family were very pleasant.
We were given keys to the front door but on one occasion the dogs were barking and snarling at us and we couldn't get in. We had to shut the door and ring the bell.
We received an e mail the day after we got home from the b&b asking if we'd 'accidently' packed the bed throw. We were furious at the suggestion, if the lady had looked properly she would have found it had slipped off the back of the chair.
I wouldn't recommend this b&b to family or friends.

Lovely Stay
We had a lovely stay here. Ruwani is a friendly and accommodating host. We enjoyed talking with her.
We liked the location in a quiet residential area. It’s less than ten minutes from town and 20 minutes from the train station.
The bed and pillows were great. The bathroom was very large, and there are lots of shelves to hold your stuff. The shower was superb. Internet service was excellent in our room and elsewhere, and there are plenty of plugs for charging.
Breakfast was excellent with plenty of hot and cold items. It’s served in a lovely conservatory. There is a beautiful patio and garden, but unfortunately we did not get to use it because of light rain during our stay.
