Clean and excellent service

We had a very great time during our 2d1n stay. We booked 2 units of which can fit up to 7 pax per room. What we love the most about this Tiny Boutique; The level of their cleanliness, Confined area with beautiful garden, Walking distance to Strawberry Farm. We were welcomed by one of the owner/caretaker En. Azmir who helped us to arrange for a barbecue dinner setup. I would definitely recommend this hotel if you are travelling in a group.

Pleasant Retreat

We are 5 ladies who wanted a cool quiet place to retreat, relax and enjoy the nature around us. This homestay is a perfect getaway for friends and family to meet and remenisce for old time sake. The garden is beautifully filled with Hydrangae and other colorful flowers and vegetables grown by the owner.
The accomodation can take 5 to 7 adults in one room. It has a loft where 2 can sleep on a queen size bed. The stair to the loft is quite narrow and is not advisable for senior citizen or small children. There is only 1 bathroom and is quite a wait if there you have a few people wanting to use the toilet at the same time. There is a toilet near the restaurant if one needs to use urgently.
There is no kitchen facility but an electric kettle is available to boil hot water. You have to bring your own tea n coffee. Otherwise, the room is clean and the beds are comfortable and nicely furnished English style.
We brought a portable gas stove and did simple cooking at the bench in the garden provided at the facility. There is a barbecue set available for guests to use. This was exciting. We bought fresh vegetables from the local market and made Tom Yam vegetable soup. We had an ejoyable unforgetable outdoor lunch at this homestay.
Highly recommended!!

Dishonest and lacking integrity

My husband and I booked for four nights. We were aware it is a family orientated homestay but felt reassured that any noises would not be an issue as the website stated the rooms were soundproofed. The website showed a very pretty garden, which it certainly was. However, the room was NOT soundproofed and on our first night we were up late trying to get some sleep. There was a thin curtain on the window and apart from an obvious privacy issue it was impossible to make the room dark. Firstly, the noise came from some children running up and down past our room, then later in the night one or two children crying. Although the garden was lovely we decided that we needed to go elsewhere to get some quiet. We asked if we could be refunded our remaining nights. The manager on call said that only his brother could make that decision so he phoned him. I spoke to him and he agreed to waive the fee for two nights. He told me to apply for the refund through Booking.com, which I did straight away. We were happy and grateful so we left the next day.
On my return to Australia we found that he had decided not to refund the two nights, leaving us out of pocket over $300 for the three nights (we were hoping for a refund of $200).
Had this man been honest and said "no" straight away we probably would have stayed and tried to make the best of it. His dishonesty meant we never got to make that choice.
The hotel website made quite a few promises that were not correct. No hairdryer in the room, no soap (Except a big bottle of disinfectant soap sitting on the toilet cistern), no tea or coffee (only an electric kettle), no slippers (there was a pair of dirty black thongs in the bathroom which I suspect was left by a previous occupant).
A truly disappointing experience

Dear Guest,
Thank you for taking your time in reviewing Tiny Boutique Habitat. The time taken to review a property is something homestay owners cherish and this gives us the understanding that you cared.
I will address your concerns in point form; however, before that, please allow me to explain the concept of a homestay in case you lack the understanding. But first, Tiny Boutique Habitat was addressed as a hotel in your review; a hotel we are not, just to make things clear and transparent. Tiny Boutique Habitat is a homestay. Here is a wikipedia link to the definition of a homestay to further drill the point home:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Homestay
Homestays are for the most part privately owned, family-run businesses. The property belongs to the owner who has been open-hearted enough to allow guests to rent the property for as many nights as they intend to and enjoy the facilities provided. Therefore, the owner decides on house rules and what is provided or not provided. We are not a hotel and do not adhere to any specific or common hotel guidelines and amenities. Different homestays will offer different types of accommodation, facilities, amenities and the like, depending on the owner.
Now, on to your concerns about our property and alleged misrepresentation of Tiny Boutique Habitat:
1. Knowing that it is a family oriented home stay; children and noise will come hand in hand. We have soundproofed the rooms to the best of our abilities. Unfortunately, we are not 'music-studio standard' sound proof as it seems this is the standard you expected. In addition, I checked with our staff and occupancy wise it was a rather quiet evening at the homestay, the nearest guests were 2 rooms away from you.
2. We have never had any complaints about our curtains being too thin, in addition to that, our windows are tinted for added privacy. The rooms can very easily be made dark by switching off the lights.
3. Hair dryers are available upon request. We've had many booking.com guests approach us for hair dryers and other items such as iron/ironing board. You could have easily requested for this from any one of our staff on the property or via the system.
4. Soap is indeed provided in the washroom. We are not sure what you mean by 'no soap'.
5. Nowhere on our profile do we state that we offer coffee/tea sachets in the rooms. This goes back to the homestay concept where different homestays offer different amenities. Ours is such that coffee and tea sachets are not provided, as of yet.
6. I'm not sure what you mean that no slippers are provided. The pair of items you referred to as 'thongs' are also known throughout the rest of the world as - slippers, sandals, flip flops etc. So it seems that there has been a language barrier misunderstanding of sorts when you refer to a pair of dirty black thongs in the washroom. However, if you were referring to the fact that we do not provide slippers in our rooms, then that is another issue altogether and this may be a cultural thing. In Malaysia, the general population do not wear slippers in the house.
For a further guide, please refer to this wikipedia article on the matter:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flip-flops
7. Prior to booking, you also knew full well that the room you booked is able to accommodate up to 6 persons including children. If you have an issue with the price, then please know that the room was meant for 6 and not 2 persons.
8. Other issues have to be addressed too since it was mentioned in previous exchanges with you:
a) You mentioned that we did not have a fridge in the unit to store your native honey. We have a café on site and that means we have a chiller to keep our food fresh. All that needed to be done was inquire with our kitchen staff if you could store your honey in our chiller and we would have been more than happy to help with this. But it is puzzling as honey usually does not need to be refrigerated to be kept fresh.
And finally
9. Here's the rub or the crux of the matter if you will. We have apologized profusely to you about overturning the decision to waive the remainder of the nights. We are truly sorry about that. However, we did request that you stay on another night to see how things pan out. Additionally, you were quick to request for a waiver via the system and we were just as quick to decline it via the system. Something which we thought you would have realized immediately since you were so quick to request for a waiver. Decisions are overturned all the time. Just as you, who had initially booked 4 nights at our property, decided to overturn your decision and request a waiver and based on claims which have been refuted.
All in all, we realise that the reasons you mentioned above for wanting to change property are baseless as we have not misrepresented our property.
Thank you and best regards,
